Position Description:
The Executive Director position is a new position, and the duties are expected to be refined after the position is filled. Currently Klinedinst PC is run by a Board of Directors and an Executive Committee comprised of shareholders, and a non-attorney management team. The Executive Director would be expected to report to the Managing Shareholder(s), the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee. The Executive Director will be located in our San Diego office, and travel to the firm’s other offices may be required.
The following are basic expectations for the position:
• Manage and motivate a talented team of over 120 attorneys and legal support staff across the State
• Recruit and hire support staff, and conduct the annual performance and salary review process of them
• Assist in coordinating the hiring of high caliber attorneys, and coordinate the annual review process of them
• Oversee all human resources related issues
• Oversee all insurance and benefits programs
• Supervise all facilities related departments, including the production department, the records department, and the library, and oversee all leases and space-related improvements
• Supervise an existing team of dedicated and talented facilities, operations, marketing, financial, and IT directors/managers
• Ensure the integration of all four Klinedinst PC offices
• Design and implement strategies to ensure the high morale of all Klinedinst PC employees
• Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the firm so the Board of Directors and Executive Committee are focused on strategic initiatives
• Design strategic agendas for the Board of Directors and Executive Committee's consideration, and attend Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings
• Ensure smooth operations within budget at the firm
• Work to ensure the appropriate financial management and profitability of the organization
• Ensure the firm's positive participation in the legal communities in which it practices, and increase the firm's profile in the community
• Work to articulate and implement the firm's three to five year strategic plan
• Manage difficult issues such as problem employees, claims, and controversy within the firm
Qualifications/Experience:
Candidates should be able to implement and bring into action a strategic plan for Klinedinst PC that continues the success of the organization. An important aspect of the role of Executive Director is to assist in moving the firm forward from an operational perspective. Candidates should have demonstrated experience successfully managing an organization through transition, change, and growth. -- Proofread work product for accuracy, format, grammar, punctuation and syntax (including work performed by overflow secretaries and word processing operators)

-- Schedule and coordinate conferences, meetings and appointments

Job Title: Senior Communications Network Engineer Department: Information Technology
Reports To: Manager of Systems Engineering FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary of Position: The Senior Communications Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, management, maintenance, security and performance optimization of all of the firm’s communications networks. The position will require non-standard working hours and flexibility to support IT change management and problem resolution.
Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Designs, implements, and manages:
• The meshed “MPLS” wide area network connecting all of the firm’s U.S. and Brussels’ offices, used for data, voice and video traffic;
• The ‘wrap around / back up’ secondary wide area network;
• Internet circuits used for internet access and email gateways;
• Local area networks in each office;
• The firm’s secure and public wireless networks in each office location; and
• Network gateways, trusted connections with third parties, firewalls and security.
2. Creates point-to-point network connectivity (using SSL / VPN secure tunnels), facilitating business at temporary locations or connectivity with clients or third party hosted applications.
3. Supports the firm’s remote systems access connectivity (VPN, terminal services, Citrix), in partnership with the remote access applications engineer.
4. Manages the wide area network accelerators, network management tools and ‘quality of service’ options to optimize network traffic flow and performance.
5. Performs maintenance, performance optimization and evolution of all network technologies, to include routers, switches, firewalls, accelerators and wireless transponders.
6. Proactively addresses performance optimization and potential points of failure.
7. Coordinates circuits provision, modifications and terminations with third party communications and Internet service providers. Responsible for communications networks problem solving and services billing review and approval coordination with third party service providers of the firm.
8. Coordinates and oversees communications and other services provided by the firm’s data center hosting services partners.
9. On an ongoing basis, reviews communications and purchasing arrangements in order to consolidate providers and to assure the firm is obtaining best value for money in purchased network services.
10. Collaborates with the firm’s telephony /video platform engineer, data storage and applications engineers, in the marriage of networks and end user services.
11. Trains and mentors other IT team members on problem identification, analysis and resolution best practices. Similarly, creates support and issue management procedures for both office IT support specialists and the firm’s third party Help Desk.
12. Responsible for project design, planning and management, to include business case formulation for IT enhancements or investments, solution design, project planning, third party collaboration / management and coordination of change with firm management, lawyers and staff.
13. Documents firm network and maintenance procedures for business continuity.
